Welcome to Zeromaps!

This is the project page of Phil Jones, a mapping officer and budding planner working in local government. The main role of this site is to showcase my database connected webmap which I am working on as part of the Plymouth and South West Devon Joint Local Plan (JLP), but have a look around!

GIS

I am a keen user of GIS, in particular open source GIS such as QGIS and PostGIS. I have worked on many high profile projects during my time at Plymouth and I am in the process of leading on a project to modernise the Council's GIS systems and clean our spatial data.

Example Projects »

Web Mapping

I build fast and responsive web maps based on open source technologies such as Leaflet. Data displayed on these maps can be static or linked to a live PostGIS database, so your webmap will display the same information and be updated by your desktop GIS client.

Design

I enjoy dabbling with web and graphic design; being familiar with HTML, CSS and Javascript on the web side and Adobe Creative Suite on the graphics side. I like making the maps I have made in GIS sofware look "pretty" in design software in order to make them easier to understand.
